Service Description

A diabetic foot health check is designed to assess and monitor the health of your feet helping to prevent complications that arise from diabetes. Due to diabetes-related issues such as poor circulation, nerve damage (neuropathy) and impaired healing. Regular foot checks are vital for detecting early signs of problems before they become serious. Please note that this appointment does not cover any treatment, and a further appointment may be necessary. Initial Consultation and medical history review: We will begin by discussing your medical history, including your diabetes management, any past foot issues and any symptoms you may be experiencing such as pain, numbness, tingling or ulcers. Foot examination: A thorough examination of both feet will be performed to assess: Skin Condition: Checking for blisters, callus, corns, ulcers Circulation: The blood flow to your feet will be assessed using simple tests like feeling for pulses, skin temperature and compressing the skin Nerve damage: We will evaluate the sensation in your feet Foot deformity: We will look for common foot problems associated with diabetes Assessment of footwear: We will examine your current footwear to ensure they are providing adequate support and protection. Ill–fitting shoes can cause pressure points and increase the risk of foot ulcers. Preventative care recommendations: - Footcare - washing , drying, moisturising and how to check your feet. - Foot Protection - Advice on avoiding injury and preventing conditions like blisters and ulcers. - Blood sugar Management - We will have a chat about the importance of blood sugar control. Treatment and referral: If any issues are identified, we will provide immediate treatment or refer you to a specialist if needed Education: Preventative care is essential for people with diabetes
